Join us for Legacy Week at the USS Midway Museum, the centerpiece of Memorial Day celebrations in San Diego. Legacy Week is a heartfelt tribute to our military's valor and sacrifices, offering a series of events designed for everyone to experience the spirit of honor, remembrance, and celebration. From the exhilarating Top Gun Maverick Party & Movie Night and exclusive encounters with aviators with their aircraft to a solemn Memorial Day Wreath Ceremony, Legacy Week encapsulates the essence of Memorial Day weekend.
Join us aboard the USS Midway Memorial Day weekend to create lasting memories while paying tribute to our heroes.

Remembrance Wall Exhibit
A special temporary exhibit wall featuring select photos will be displayed in our Hangar Bay, remembering and thanking individuals for their sacrifices for our freedom.

Friday, May 24
Top Gun Party & Movie Night (Sold-Out)
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
A night of sky-high thrills featuring a DJ and dancing, delicious food, bar services for some jet fuel, photo ops with Midway Maverick, a showing of Top Gun Maverick on the big screen, and more on the flight deck of the USS Midway!
Saturday, May 25
Mesa Continuing Education Choir
12 p.m. performance on the Flight Deck
Experience the harmonious fusion of patriotic choral pieces this mixed-voice choral group presents!

New Exhibits Grand Opening!
Midway’s Engineers: Service, Sacrifice, & Everyday Life
10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The USS Midway Museum will open its most engaging and complex exhibits in the museum’s 20-year history, on Memorial Day weekend 2024. Two exhibits in one, known as “Midway's Engineers: Service, Sacrifice and Everyday Life,” is focused on the aircraft carrier’s engineering department. They not only tell the stories of the ship’s hardworking engineers, but how steam powered virtually every element of the ship, as well as how fire is a sailor’s worst nightmare.
This exhibition is included with regular museum admission.

Sunday, May 26
Meet the Aviators
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Be amazed to hear exclusive stories from veteran aviators and learn about the aircraft they flew, right on Midway's Flight Deck!
This event is included with regular museum admission.
Author Book Signing
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Meet Amy Forsythe, speaker and author.
Amy serves as a Public Affairs Officer in the Navy Reserves. She is the author of the book "Heroes Live Here," a tribute to the Marines of Camp Pendleton following the events of 9/11.
Monday, May 27
Memorial Day Wreath Ceremony
9 a.m.
Join us on Memorial Day for a special commemorative wreath ceremony in remembrance of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. This event will include guest speakers, a flyover, and tossing a memorial wreath over the ship to honor the fallen.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests must arrive at the ceremony by 9:20 a.m to receive complimentary admission to the museum following the ceremony.
The Wreath Ceremony will be followed by a variety of performances.
Troy Athens High School Band
10:30 a.m. performance
Visiting from Troy, MI, experience the talent of this award-winning high school band!
This event is included with regular museum admission.
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Arizona Band
11:00 a.m. & 2:15 p.m. performances
Listen to entertaining patriotic music by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Band Arizona instrumentalists on the flight deck! There are two timed performances at 11:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Don’t miss out!

Bonita Vista High School’s Music Machine
12:30 p.m. performance
Enjoy patriotic entertainment by one of San Diego’s top-ranked advanced mixed show choirs, Bonita Vista High School’s Music Machine! Be sure to head to the flight deck to get your seats for this entertaining performance.

National Moment of Remembrance
3 p.m.
Join us on the flight deck, or wherever you are, to take a minute of silence to remember members of our Armed Forces who have fallen while serving our country.
