Ride Operator (20 - 28 hours per week)

Are you looking for a job in a unique and fun environment? The most visited aircraft carrier museum, the USS Midway Museum, is looking for a Ride Operator.
Position Overview
As a Ride Operator, in addition to proactively engaging our guests making them feel welcomed, comfortable, and important, you will process ticket transactions and provide safety and ride instructions for the flight simulation experience. Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 40 lbs.
Schedule
- Sunday – Saturday, 3 – 4 shifts per week
- AM/PM shifts – 6- 7 hours
- 9.30 am – 4:00 pm/5:00 pm
- 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm
- Shifts vary between AM and PM based on event schedule
- Must be able to work holidays (except Thanksgiving and Christmas)
- Pay: $19.00 per hour
Summary of Job Duties:
- Proactively engage with guests in a helpful and friendly manner.
- Provide clear and complete ride instructions to riders – including flight instructions and safety features.
- Accurately enter ticket purchases into POS
- Conduct daily safety inspection checklist
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment – conduct daily cleaning of ride and ride enclosure.
- Report ride discrepancies/incidents to management
- Physically maneuver the simulator to starting position when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education/Experience:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous customer service experience.
- Previous ride operator experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be friendly, personable and comfortable engaging with guests.
- Have a passion for customer service.
- Reliable and dependable: ability to report to work on time as scheduled.
- Demonstrates flexibility and good judgment in providing guests an exceptional experience.
- A team player. Must work well with others.
Working Conditions:
- Job Conditions/Work Location: Working onboard a former Navy Aircraft Carrier in all weather conditions, indoor and outdoor.
- Physical Requirements: Navigate up/downstairs; bend stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push lift, and carry up to 40 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height. Frequent twisting, bending and stooping, and standing for long periods of time.
