Facilities Maintenance Technician
SAN DIEGO, CA
San Diego’s top-rated attraction, the USS Midway Museum, is looking for a Maintenance Technician to provide general labor/maintenance and operational logistics of our loading dock.
Status: Regular full-time with 100% paid Medical and Dental, 1st of the month after 30 days
Schedule: 40 hours per week, must be able to work nights & weekends!
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $22.00 per hour
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK A SCHEDULE that WILL INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repair of the ship and associated equipment including interior/exterior hull preservation, corrosion control, truck, van, forklift and light towers as well as general custodial maintenance.
- Support proper removal of trash, retrograde, HAZMAT, e-waste, recyclable material, grease, aircraft or vehicles as required.
- Support daily operational logistics that requires movement of equipment/supplies/perishable food items from the pier via aircraft elevators, hangar bay to flight deck via cargo/bomb elevator and via forklift through the hangar bay and flight deck.
- Receive and deliver USPS, FEDEX, Amazon and other general package deliveries on behalf of MIDWAY and MIDWAY vendors.
- Operate aircraft/bomb elevator, forklift (large and smaller forklifts), man-lift and rolling stocks.
- Work collaboratively with all internal departments to ensure coordination of activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS/ABILITIES:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Graduate
- Previous related work experience with maintenance/repair of facilities.
- S. Navy shipboard maintenance experience a plus!
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Qualified or can be qualified to operate forklifts, pallet equipment and other Midway specific equipment
- Maintain a qualified driving record to operate company vehicles.
- Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

- Demonstrates ability to use small power (hand and cleaning) tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed on board an aircraft carrier.
- Physical Requirements: Constant climbing up/down stairs and ladders; bend stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push lift, and carry up to 40 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
- Equipment Operated: Forklift, pallet equipment, small power tools, buffer/scrubber, and janitorial equipment.
