F-14 Tomcat
The F-14 Tomcat used its ‘swing wing’ design for high speed dogfighting with the wings swept back and for landing aboard carriers when extended. F-14s were made famous in the popular film “Top Gun” in 1986. Armed with a 20mm cannon and a formidable array of guided missiles, Tomcats were the carrier battlegroup’s first line of defense for more than 30 years.
